ALL-OUT DERBY WAR! Chris Sutton Sparks Furious Backlash Over Disrespectful Leeds vs Man Utd Prediction

Chris Sutton has delivered an astonishing prediction for Sunday’s showdown between Leeds United and Manchester United at Elland Road, forecasting a complete humiliation for the visitors.

The pundit believes the home side will dismantle their bitter rivals in a 5-0 thrashing, pointing to the contrasting form and escalating dysfunction surrounding the Old Trafford club.

Leeds enter the derby with strong momentum following an impressive start to their campaign, leaving many observers viewing them as legitimate favourites on home soil. Manchester United, in contrast, find themselves mired in a miserable run of form. Michael Carrick’s squad has managed just two victories across their opening nine fixtures in all competitions, turning the heat up significantly on the head coach. Carrick currently leads the bookmakers’ odds to become the first Premier League manager relieved of his duties this season, and the mounting pressure shows little sign of easing.

Off-field turbulence has further destabilised United’s preparations. Following a flat 2-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in midweek European competition, defender Lisandro Martinez triggered controversy by openly criticising the club’s recruitment strategy, aiming his remarks toward technical director Jason Wilcox.

Speaking to the BBC, Sutton expressed bewilderment over the defender’s outspoken comments, noting that the Argentine centre-back lacked the standing to lecture club executives after a costly individual error against Tottenham Hotspur. In that match, Martinez failed to deal with a routine delivery, allowing Dominic Solanke to bundle home an equaliser.

Sutton suggested that Martinez would have been wiser to stay quiet and focus on his performances on the pitch. He argued that if he were in Wilcox’s position, he would look to sign a physically imposing, left-sided central defender during the January transfer window specifically to replace Martinez and resolve the team’s vulnerability to aerial balls. While acknowledging that certain supporters might share Martinez’s frustration with overall recruitment, Sutton labelled the timing a serious error in judgment that underscores the disorder engulfing Old Trafford.

That instability informed Sutton’s verdict for the weekend. The former striker admitted that he had routinely backed Manchester United in earlier fixtures this season, only to watch them falter repeatedly. Despite acknowledging that Carrick’s desperate side might summon an improved showing under pressure, Sutton made clear that he no longer trusts them to respond.

Instead, he expects Daniel Farke’s Leeds side to capitalise ruthlessly on United’s frailty and lack of cohesion. Pointing to the electric atmosphere expected at Elland Road and the collective confidence coursing through the home dressing room, Sutton predicted an emphatic, one-sided contest that ends in a resounding 5-0 victory for Leeds.

Should that forecast prove accurate, the defeat would mark one of Manchester United’s heaviest losses against their old adversaries in the modern era, leaving Carrick’s managerial future hanging by a thread before the autumn schedule truly kicks into gear.
