‘TRAITOR TO THE CLUB!’ Martin Keown Snaps in Scorched-Earth Blast as Arsenal Icon Bizarrely Sides With Leeds

Martin Keown Calls Out David Seaman Over Divided Loyalties in Arsenal Win Over Leeds

Arsenal secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, but the drama was not confined strictly to the pitch. Beyond the intense action on the grass, a friendly yet pointed dispute erupted between two former Arsenal stalwarts who shared the dressing room during the club’s glory years.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke was left frustrated after his squad walked away empty-handed from their clash against the reigning champions. Leeds had fought admirably and even grabbed the lead in the second half, only to be undone by Arsenal’s superior bench strength and a few contentious officiating calls. Yet while Farke reflected on what might have been, pundit Martin Keown turned his attention to former teammate David Seaman.

Keown was openly unimpressed after spotting the iconic goalkeeper sporting a half-and-half scarf during the match. Seaman began his footballing journey inside the Leeds United youth academy before departing and eventually cementing his legacy as one of Arsenal’s greatest ever goalkeepers. Despite those Yorkshire roots, Keown felt his old colleague showed far too much affection toward the opposition.

Speaking during the TNT Sports broadcast, Keown made his feelings known about the fashion statement. He pointed out that while Seaman spent time at Leeds as a youngster, the club ultimately let him go. Keown argued that because of how things ended back then, seeing him wear the divided scarf came as a genuine surprise, insisting the former England international should have displayed complete loyalty to Arsenal instead.

The lighthearted criticism quickly gained traction online, prompting Seaman to respond on social media. Writing on X, the former goalkeeper expressed amusement at the reaction, stating he could hardly believe how much grief he was receiving just for wearing the split scarf to the match.

Aside from the banter, Seaman shared genuine optimism regarding Leeds United’s current trajectory, praising their newly established squad depth and overall structure. Drawing parallels to past eras, he noted how the current setup mirrors the transition when David O’Leary took charge following George Graham. Graham had laid strong defensive foundations, which allowed O’Leary to grant the younger players more freedom on the pitch. Seaman suggested Leeds might find themselves in a similar sweet spot today, hailing the club’s incredible atmosphere, dedicated single-city fanbase, and deep historical pedigree.

While Leeds ultimately left London without points, their spirited performance reinforced Seaman’s positive assessment. Whispers of a push for European qualification may still feel ambitious, but displays of this caliber demonstrate they can hold their own against the league’s elite. Farke’s primary objective remains securing consistency and keeping the squad healthy across a grueling campaign, yet if Leeds continue to build on this momentum, European aspirations might not stay out of reach for long.
