Despite sitting just a point behind Celtic in the league table with a game in hand, Clement’s focus remains on the upcoming Old Firm derby.

Since Clement took charge, Rangers have narrowed the gap to seven points in the title race and could potentially overtake Celtic in the standings with a win at Ibrox this Sunday. While acknowledging the real title race they have created, Clement downplays the significance of earning Celtic’s respect.

Highlighting his team’s impressive form and increased consistency since the last Old Firm encounter, Clement stressed the importance of self-respect and achieving remarkable results, such as securing 30 points out of 33 in 2024.

When asked about whether Rangers have gained Celtic’s respect, Clement responded, “I am not preoccupied with that aspect. Our primary focus is on building a cohesive squad with a consistent performance level. Winning trophies hinges on sustaining this level of performance, and I see a positive trend in the squad we are constructing.”

As they strive to break Celtic’s stronghold on Scottish football, Rangers have already clinched a trophy in the form of the Scottish League Cup, with their sights set on further success in the season ahead.
